From the Studio

It's nice to see our clients in hospitality and retail back open again. Most factories I speak with in Stoke all seem to be struggling to keep up with demand.

It’s been a little while since the last update. We’re sharing some studio space with fellow artists/designers - Peter Ibruegger and Man Kit in Stoke-on-Trent. They have a connection to Stoke on Trent and its industries and we’re hoping that as restrictions ease, this will be a small seed of community.

I’ve continued to tutor on the MA Ceramics course at Staffordshire University. Their graduation show is from 7 June to 12 June and you can book your time slot here:

It’s been an incredibly difficult year for students these past two years but I’m proud of all our students who thrived creatively within the restrictions and limitations placed on them. I’m a firm believer in setting boundaries for creative problem solving. Big congratulations to all students from all institutions for making it through an incredibly difficult year. If you can’t make it to the degree show, the Instagram account will show the recent works.

On the online shop, we’re now back to shipping out orders normally as Saskia is back in the studio. We’ve increased the product lines available online recently from the initial fresh start of April 2020. Back in stock are white ceramic tableware and vases that robustly, but finely, accompany your everyday. Our latest addition is the pint mug - some may balk at the size for tea and coffee, but I find it perfect for my sage tea to take to bed.

All my personal favourites are back in stock - bamboo tumbler’s defined silhouette hides its strangely satisfying fit in the hand. You’ll have to hold it to understand. The pinch mug is similarly designed with soft curves carved into the body for that hold. The pinch vase and eggcup both echo that softness on such a strong material.
