Handcrafted Collections

These are fully produced and hand-painted in Reiko’s studio, which adds a unique hand-finished feel and distinct shape to each piece instilling a bit of charm and character. Handcrafted collections enable the staining of bone china clay and allows for pâte-sur-pâte technique of painting clay on clay which creates a ghostly appearance.

Hydrangea

  • The hydrangea that Reiko painted represents its winter, dried state, where the intricate veins of the flowers remain visible, imparting a translucent, spectral quality.

While developing the botanical glaze collection—a series of green glazes on white bone china—Reiko found inspiration in the abundant white dahlia from her garden. She clearly encountered challenges with painting white-on-white bone china. To address this, she crafted darker plates and applied bone china slip for decoration, resulting in an ethereal effect that beautifully enhances the floral designs. Each piece is hand cast, giving them a slightly imperfect charm.

Dahlia

  • The white dahlia on black was the original piece but there have since been many variations such as this one.

Dandelion

  • The humble dandelion takes centre stage on this plate. One person’s weed is another’s treasure. Celebrating the dandelion invites a reflection on how perceptions of value can vary widely. Here’s one for nature's overlooked wonders.
